The sons of Ephraim, all 20,800 of them, were famous throughout their father’s house. In our celebrity driven culture, every man at some point in their life has desired to be famous. Whether that’s the corporate world, sports, acting—you name it. While there is nothing wrong with holding fame in any of these areas, the problem arises when that fame outshines the family unit.

There are many presumable great men in our society that hold fame but are desperately trying to hold their broken family together. Jesus said, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?” (Luke 9:25). Not only is the man destroyed, but so is his primary responsibility—his family. Legacy does begin with you, but it will end with you as well. If we, as men, want to build a lasting legacy, it happens when we become famous in our family.
